What’s the Deal with Zúme’s New Live Chat Feature?

If you have visited Zúme.Training recently, you may have wondered about the little Messenger icon that pops up. This icon, connected to Facebook’s Messenger system, is Zúme’s newest addition to its social media tools and opportunities: a live chat service! If you click on that icon, you will be able to ask a question to Mary, Tim, Gus, or Chad—the Zúme live chat team.

Chad has been working on Zúme’s social media since a mentor of his invited him to join a Zúme meeting. When they expressed a need for someone to help with social media, Chad raised his hand and said, “Well, I like playing around with Facebook.” Since then, Zúme has started a Facebook page and accounts on Twitter, LinkedIn, and even TikTok. Chad jokes that his kids were “giving me the hardest time” with the TikTok account, “Because I’m an old guy.” The team has accomplished a lot, even engaging with a quarter million people on YouVersion, but “We really just need a ton of help,” Chad admits.

One of the growing areas of impact—and, by extension, of need—is the live chat feature. The team has received an influx of cool questions, but “The challenge is, sometimes they’re in other languages.” The team has been doing their best to connect with questioners through Google Translate, a challenging and slow process. One user who messaged the team, a French speaker from Quebec, has the same question as many other respondents: How can I get to know God better? This question deserves a complete answer, but the language barrier and a lack of contacts in the region has made it difficult for the team to follow up well with this person. And they are only one of the many people from many different backgrounds, languages, and locations who are reaching out through the Zúme live chat feature.

We are thrilled about this new opportunity to reach people curious about Christ and interact with them personally. “The harvest is plentiful, the workers are few, and I’m putting out an ask to anybody that loves Jesus and multiplying disciples and social media,” says Chad. “If you’d like to jump on and help us out, send us a message on the live chat feature.” If you’re curious or feel a nudge on your heart, click on the icon! Someone on the team will respond to your questions.
